Introducing the Silver Xenica and the Flame Robin!
These represent our winemaker Jo Marsh’s favourite parcel of white and red wine from the vintage – whether it be for pure quality, interest or uniqueness these wines stood out above all the others for her. This inaugural release includes:
2017 Billy Button Silver Xenica
This wine Jo selected for its uniqueness. An Alpine Valleys Friulano from the Dalbosco vineyard fermented and aged on skins. The first wine from the Billy Button stable to be awarded 96 points in the Wine Companion. Here’s what taster Ned Goodwin had to say:
“This is the other ‘chosen wine’, based not only on the prodigious nature of the ’17 vintage, but on Jo Marsh’s creative license with her highest quality material, beginning life as a trial batch that was held on skins for a whopping 300 days post-ferment. As is the way of the estate, fermentation natural, extended lees handled and extraction achieved with aplomb. More herbal undercarriage driven by cylinders of pungent stone to tropical fruit persuasions finishing spicy, peppery, long and skinsy. One for the Italophile in us all.”
2017 Billy Button Flame Robin
A special parcel of Tempranillo from the Greenacres vineyard that just stood above the other parcels of Tempranillo from the vintage. From 2 wine shows it has won two gold medals – at the 2018 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show and the 2018 North East Victorian Wine Challenge. Only 50 dozen made.
Another Prosecco joins the range
We’ve added a NV Prosecco to our ‘Wildflower’ range. Bright and juicy with a crisp dry finish!
